The interview was in person with HR and the hiring manager present. They omitted from the job ad that the tech support role involves rotating between 3 different on-site locations weekly. This was brought up at the end, which felt deceptive as the interview was in-person. The manager seemed evasive, and the HR rep didn't seem to understand the cognitive loads of tech workers or the conditions for focused work. It felt like they were looking for someone to exploit.

Applied on LinkedIn and didn't hear back for like two months. Then, I finally got in touch with the recruiter and got this big SEO case study to do. It was never even looked at, though. After that, I had two interviews where they said my technical skills were 'too advanced,' and then they just said they hired someone else.

Behavioral Presentation

An external recruiter contacted me about the OEM Knowledge Manager position. After expressing interest, the recruiter mentioned the hiring manager was still finalizing the interview structure but anticipated the first interview would be late the following week. It actually took two more weeks to schedule. The initial interview involved both an HR representative and the hiring manager, and felt like a typical introductory meeting. The day after, I was informed they were impressed and wanted to proceed, requiring a research project presentation. The project brief arrived Friday night for a presentation the following Wednesday. This research task was estimated to take a full day, around 7 hours, focusing on a consulting project for them. While I'm amenable to presentation interviews, the time and effort required for this specific project seemed excessive. I voiced my concerns to the external recruiter, who attempted to address them, but by then I had decided to withdraw from the hiring process.

After applying online, I was contacted for an interview. First, they asked me some questions about why I'm interested in the role and the skills I possess. Then, they asked me to demonstrate my Excel proficiency by performing specific tasks. Finally, I had a follow-up meeting with two managers to assess my team fit.
