Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Imperial Oil.
Process Technician
I had a one hour face to face interview with the General Chief and Utility Chief. They were nice. It seemed they had interviewed several other candidates before me because they were writing things down while I was talking. I prepared a lot of answers about safety because I saw on their website they care about it, but it didn't seem to be their main concern. The General Chief even interrupted me when I was talking about safety. It felt like they had already found a good candidate from previous interviews and weren't really focused on interviewing me. At the end, I asked for their contact info, but the General Chief didn't have his business card. I forgot to ask him to write it down because I didn't have a notebook. I learned I should bring a business card and offer it first. The HR experience was bad; she didn't answer my calls and took two weeks to reply to my email about traveling for the interview.
