So, after you submit your application and resume, they might do a quick call or video chat with a recruiter to see if you're qualified and interested. If that goes well, you'll likely have a first interview, maybe over the phone or video, with someone from HR, mostly about your background and if you fit the company. Then, for the technical stuff, there will be interviews to check your skills, where you might have to solve problems or do some practical exercises. They also do behavioral interviews, asking about how you've handled challenges or worked in teams before. And sometimes there's a panel interview.

I found the internship posting online and a month later I got an email to book an interview at my university. The interviewer told me about the job she picked for me. Then she asked basic questions like if I'm legal to work in Canada and if I have a driver's license. After that, she asked STAR format behavioral questions. If I couldn't think of an answer, she was nice about giving me a similar question. Then she asked if I had any questions. But, the interviewer didn't know anything about the role and couldn't answer most of my questions. She was really nice and patient though, but seemed to just take notes for the actual decision-makers. The day after, I got an email to do a background check through a third party called MINTZ where I had to give my driver's abstract and ID. Still waiting to hear back.

I went through two stages of interviews. The first one was a Skype interview held in late October. If I passed that, the second interview would be in November or December. Mine was in December. A couple weeks after the second interview, I got an email requesting information for a background check. But before it was even done, I got a rejection letter. I don't get why they'd ask for a background check if I wasn't selected. It felt like a waste of time reaching out to candidates for a background check when they weren't going to be hired anyway. All the interviews were behavioral.
