The interview process started with a quick 5-10 minute phone screen just to get acquainted. Next, there was a 30-minute video call with the hiring manager to discuss the job requirements, assess your fit, and go over your previous experience. This was followed by a hands-on activity designed to see if you could handle the day-to-day tasks of the role right away. Then, a 30-minute video call with the CEO, Bob, where we talked about technical aspects of the job, its future, and why you'd be a valuable part of the team. The final stage was an in-office interview, which included meeting various team members and people from different departments, capped off with a team lunch. This was your chance to meet everyone and for them to get a feel for you and your cultural fit. Finally, an offer was extended, which was accepted.

Behavioral Presentation

They have a long process common in the success/online space that usually involves time-wasting appointments. It's meant to be about transparency and rapport-building, but like most processes from success-space folks, they don't really stick to them. They want people to buy into their top guru's book, which takes common sense about content and turns it into a philosophy about giving customers what they want. While that's not inherently bad, they cleverly trick employees into branding themselves with the company's image, themes, book title, etc., using them as content to promote themselves. Requiring employees to be brand ambassadors on video and social media is unfair and could hurt their reputation if the guru gets in trouble for something illegal, as most gurus eventually do.

It all kicked off with an email from HR asking to schedule the initial phone chat with the company owner. They said these calls are in 15-minute slots and usually wrap up in 5-10 minutes. The owner asked me a few things, and we chatted for about 8 minutes total. It was super quick and you could tell he was on a tight schedule. I'm not sure how many people he talks to for each job, but for how big the company is, I was surprised he was so involved in early hiring.

I was sent a recorded video Q&A pre-interview. The questions were about project management experience. I didn't like the format because there wasn't anyone to talk to directly. I wasn't asked to move on to further interview stages.
