First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Immutable.
Talent Partner
The first call with the internal Talent Partner was very transactional and didn't really help figure out if I was a good fit. Instead of using the time to dig into my background, skills, and experience, most of the chat was about pushing the opportunity hard. It felt like a waste of time. I had already applied and was obviously interested. A better phone screen would have focused on checking my qualifications and seeing if we were a good match, not treating me like someone who needed convincing. This way of doing things made it seem like the recruiting team cared more about hitting a number than finding good candidates.
- Can you share an instance where you integrated AI into your professional activities?
Solution Architect
The technical interviews at Immutable were really good and engaging. The tech folks were super nice and I had great conversations with them. But then, the salary negotiations went totally south and ruined the whole thing. My salary expectations were confirmed as okay three times: first on LinkedIn messages, then in the pre-screen call with the recruiter, and again after the technical interviews (weird they asked this 3 times instead of once, but whatever). After I passed all the interviews, just before the reference checks, the recruiter told me they could only offer 2.5 times less than what we agreed. They said it was because of regional salary averages, even though they confirmed three times that my expectations were fine. Obviously, I had to say no because it was way less than my current salary. They could have saved us both a lot of time if they were upfront about the salary range from the beginning, instead of making me go through all the rounds and then pulling the rug out.
- Could you prepare and present a proposal to get a game studio to join the Immutable platform?
Software Engineer
The hiring process moved pretty fast, with two initial screens followed by a two-part technical assessment. I think the last step was supposed to be a behavioral interview, but I withdrew before getting to that stage. The first few rounds were alright, but the technical part was quite strange. I was told it would be in one programming language, but it ended up being in another. The entire exercise was conducted on some ad-filled free website that also had issues running any code. The system design portion felt more like a Q&A session rather than actual design work. It wasn't overly difficult, but the questions were very dated, focusing more on reciting 'correct' answers than on problem-solving or design ideation. Luckily, I'd read some reviews here and decided to back out before the next round.
- Could you describe a project you were proud to have completed?
Sales Engineer
The interviews kicked off with easy chats with a recruiter and the head of biz dev, then got real deep, both personally and technically. Around 5 interviews in total. They really dug into my resume, checking every claim about past experience and successes, to the point where almost everything got verified. The toughest part was presenting a business case to the CTO and Head of BD. This involved super technical questions, only answerable by someone with solid blockchain knowledge. After the interviews wrapped up and they made an offer, negotiations began, which took a while. But, they kept me in the loop and updated on how things were going. I eventually accepted the offer and have been with Immutable ever since. The challenging interview process really pays off when you see the caliber of people at the company.
