First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IMI.
Embedded Software Engineer
It was a good onboarding and interview. First, there was a coding round. Then, a managerial round where they really dug into my technical background. After that, another managerial round where we talked about my projects.
- Which of your experiences do you think would add the most value to our company?
- What technical assessments did you undergo?
- Can you tell me about the projects you've worked on?
Digital Strategy Manager
Had an initial chat with HR that went fine. Then the hiring manager didn't show up for a follow-up interview. Another person who was supposed to interview me was travelling and didn't have their camera on. Eventually, I had a follow-up with the hiring manager. They said they'd be in touch in a few weeks, but months passed and I never heard back. The whole thing felt unprofessional.

Graduate Program
The whole day interview, from 8 am to 4 pm, involved a tech test and discussion with interviewers, a group discussion, an individual interview, and an online test. Candidates were divided into 2 groups of 8 people each. There were 10-minute breaks between each stage and a 30-minute lunch break. The group discussion had 4 candidates per group discussing a case. The individual interview involved facing 2 interviewers. The online test focused on math and IQ. The tech test had 7 or 8 questions across different majors, where candidates had to choose 2 and explain their answers to the interviewers.
- Can you explain why you are interested in IMI?
- What do you consider to be your greatest strengths?
- Could you elaborate on your reasoning behind the answers you provided for the technical test?
Graduate Programmer
After submitting an online application, there was a numerical test and a logical reasoning test, each taking 30 minutes per section. This was followed by personality questions. Then came a phone interview. The next stage was an assessment center at the Shanghai office, which included a 1:2 motivation interview and a retake of the numerical and logical tests. There was also a 1:2 technical interview where I had to choose a subject from mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering, and a group discussion. I received the decision within a week.
- Can you tell us why you're interested in IMI?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this role?
- Could you describe a significant challenge you've faced?
