Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IMC Trading.
Analyst
The people I spoke with were nice and the interview process was pretty straightforward. It involved some behavioral questions and some technical questions, but nothing too advanced. Mostly just fundamental questions, which makes sense for a company that's mainly into market making and doesn't do a lot of other stuff. I talked to at least 12 people in total.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered at work over the last year?
Analyst
I got an email for the test which is like a game so it just tests your reaction time. Then I got an email for the first round. The first round was just a one way interview where the questions appear in front of you. I didn't go past the first round.
- Tell me about yourself
- What activities do you engage in outside of your college life?
- Can you solve a probability question involving a robot and two steps?
Analyst
The interview process involved three main stages. First, there was a 60-minute online assessment. This was followed by a phone interview where they asked questions about my resume. Finally, there was an onsite interview that covered everything.
- Questions about probability, with a recommendation to review the 'Green book' and have an intermediate understanding of mathematical statistics.
- Questions related to data interpretation, similar to GRE verbal inference questions.
- Questions involving math, specifically finding a pattern in a sequence.
