Software Engineer
Started with resume submission, then a hiring manager and recruiter screening. This was followed by rounds discussing best practices, standards, performance improvements, and latest libraries. Then there was a break before a behavioral round. Thanks, this was for most DHS projects.

- How do you go about improving performance?
Public Service Administrator
So I applied and heard back about 4 weeks later for an interview. The whole thing took about 4 months. The recruiter was really good about keeping in touch. Since I was an external hire, I had to do a bunch of background checks before they could make an offer. Once all that cleared, the recruiter gave me the official offer and I got to pick my start date.
- How does your skillset align with the position requirements?
Consultant
It was a bit of a mess. Took about a month to get an interview scheduled, then another week for the interview itself. After that, it was two months before I found out I didn't get the job. HR said it would be a quick chat with her, but when I joined the Zoom, I was surprised to see a Senior Panel for a live interview. They had an HR moderator and seemed to use very structured methods to avoid biases. The interview was one round, lasting an hour, for a very visible senior-level role focused on organizational change and efficiency. They asked standard questions based on a rubric and didn't allow for questions from my side during the process. Some questions needed clarification because the way the tasks were presented made it difficult to answer how I would prioritize, as the incoming tasks would actually change how most people would typically respond.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered and addressed cultural challenges, such as lack of support or resistance?
- Describe a time you successfully obtained buy-in from stakeholders and the approach you used.
- Tell us about a situation where you needed to gain stakeholder buy-in and detail your actions.
Office Associate
The hiring process was quite smooth and efficient. Initially, I had to complete an exam to be eligible. Once it was graded, my application was forwarded for review. Approximately two to three weeks later, I was contacted via mail to schedule an interview, which I arranged by phone a week after receiving the letter. Another week passed, and I was presented with a job offer. Had I not been selected, a denial letter would have been sent.
- Can you describe your computer usage experience?
- What kind of experience do you have with claims management?
- How would you handle a situation where an outside caller requests information about a claim?
