Human Resources Generalist
I applied online on their website. A recruiter reached out for a first video call. Then I had an interview in the store with the manager. Both interviews felt welcoming and nice. The last step was an interview with the store director and the regional HR.
- Could you walk me through your experience, and what would you say are your weaker and stronger points?
- Can you describe your career path?
- What are your strongest and weakest traits?
HR Generalist
We had a quick 10-minute introductory call with the recruiter, she was really nice and helpful. Then we set up an aptitude test, which lasted about 30 minutes. They asked me to talk about my background, if I knew the company, what my future aspirations were, and if I was interested in the role. I got the results the next day and they asked about my availability for a managerial interview. Honestly, I felt the managerial interview was a bit rushed and they didn't seem very engaged – the aptitude test felt more in-depth. After that, I had some issues with a skills test. I asked for information, but then they just disappeared.
- Could you tell me about yourself and your career path?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Why did you choose to work in human resources?
Human Resources Generalist
Had a phone interview on a weekend for an HR Generalist role. The compensation (50-60k) seemed low given the expectations. The job requires working in a uniform, one out of every two weekends, and one evening shift until 10 pm during the week, plus a 40-hour work week. Additionally, you'd be expected to be on the floor selling or pushing shopping carts. This might be fine for a student working as a cashier, but it's a lot for someone with 5 years of experience and a CHRP. Ikea says they are cost-efficient, innovative, and unconventional, but I think they went too far with these requirements.
- What is your understanding of IKEA?
- Tell me about your personal experience as an IKEA customer.
- How do you define sustainability?
