IKEA Graphic Designer Interview Questions

So I had this interview for a Graphic Designer job at IKEA, and it was pretty good, very organized. HR kept me in the loop about everything. It started with an HR chat, then I had to show my portfolio, and finally, I talked with the hiring manager or the team. The portfolio part was the main event, where they really dug into how I come up with ideas, how I solve design problems, and if I can make stuff look good while still being practical. They cared a lot about keeping the brand look consistent and if I'd done work for print, online, and in-store stuff. We also chatted about working with others, taking criticism, and hitting deadlines. The whole thing felt professional and like a team effort, and they really wanted to see how I explained my design choices.

It was a three-step process: first, CV and portfolio review, then a video presentation, and finally, the interviews. I wasn't selected after the video presentation. I didn't get any feedback afterwards, which I think is a shame even if the answer is negative, they could have sent me a simple message. Because I had to spend time preparing and studying a bit before jumping in.

The interview process was pretty straightforward and engaging. It began with an HR phone screening, followed by interviews with team leads. Then, I had to complete a technical assignment and went through a few critical thinking assessments. On a downside, the HR contact I had wasn't very responsive, and I would have appreciated a clear update on my application status. The lack of communication does make me wonder about their internal management and how they communicate. During the initial interview, I was also informed that the starting salary was on the lower side but with potential for growth, though the scope wasn't detailed. A bit disappointing, but I appreciated the candidness.
