First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ike's Place.
Sandwich Artist
The interview process wasn't great. They didn't ask good questions and I have past experience. They didn't want me and I didn't feel wanted. I wish they would have asked about what I could do for the company.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Assistant Manager
The interviewing manager seemed a bit disorganized and I was transferred to them without knowing how SLO works with all the students leaving in the summer, which felt like a questionable move by upper management. She also mentioned a "FAMILY environment" which gave me a slight red flag. On the plus side, she was very nice and even gave me a free sandwich. However, after we rescheduled, I was ghosted, so I guess I avoided a difficult situation.
- Can you tell me about your three most significant strengths and weaknesses?
Human Resources Generalist
This company has a 3 step interview process. They want to get a feel for who you are as a person and check if you would be a great fit for the culture. The first step is the phone screening where you will answer many questions about HR knowledge and you need to pass to move on. Second step is an in person interview with the HR manager and the VP of operations. Third step is another in person interview where you meet the CEO. Many factors play a part in whether you will be selected for the role.
- Can you explain the distinction between exempt and non-exempt employees?
- In your previous role, what kinds of employee arrangements did you handle (e.g., contracted, W2, W4, W9)?
Cashier
The interview was pretty chill and relaxed, and the manager was really nice and outgoing. We mostly chatted about what I'm up to in school and my future plans. The manager is a student herself and works full-time, so she totally gets that school is the priority. She's cool with changing my shifts around if I have big tests coming up. All in all, it was a super laid-back experience with a really cool manager.
- What makes you want to be a part of this team?
- Can you tell me about your greatest strength?
