Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IgnitionOne.
Software Engineer
I chatted with the recruiter first. Then, I had a conversation with the hiring manager and one of his colleagues. To wrap things up, I met the entire team for an in-person interview. No one from the team ever got back to me after that, so I figured I didn't get the job.
- Could you introduce yourself and tell me about your relevant experience for this position?
Software Engineer
After applying online, I had an initial phone screen where they asked about my background and previous experience, which was pretty standard. Then, they asked if I was doing any projects in my free time. I replied that I didn't really have free time because I've been very busy with work. Their tone changed, and they said they were only looking to hire people who 'had a passion for technology and not ones who treated it as just a job,' and then they ended the interview.
- What projects are you working on during your free time?
Software Engineer
It was pretty straightforward. First, a recruitment phone screen to check my background, career goals, and interest in the role. Then, a technical phone interview with questions about my experience related to the job requirements and a few simple coding problems like setting up an array. Finally, an onsite office visit for an hour and a half where I interviewed with 3 people and got an office tour. The whole process was adjusted to my experience level and focused on testing my knowledge to gauge my potential. They didn't throw curveballs, but they did present some interesting technical problems. Overall, it was one of the most open, straightforward, and smooth interview processes.
