Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IG Wealth Management.
Financial Advisor
The interview process went well and was about 30 minutes long, including a role-playing exercise. The questions ranged from tough to easy, with the difficulty increasing progressively. The first interview was with HR, covering basic information about the role and salary expectations. The second round was conducted by the team leader.
- What are your 5-year career aspirations?
Financial Advisor
The interview process was long and involved several interviews, extensive background checks, and credit checks. The first interview lasted an hour, and the second was similar in length. They requested sensitive financial information, including financial statements and my CRA notice of assessment. Despite spending hours on their questionnaires and interviews, they never provided any feedback or an offer. I felt unappreciated and that they did not respect my time.
- Can you describe your financial background?
- How capable are you of attracting assets from previous clients?
Financial Consultant
I got an email from the Division director at the Oakville office, and I went to see him in 2 days. It was a very professional interview where he told me about the company, financial planning, and the future of the industry. They are looking for people that want to pursue a certification in financial planning. If you do not have financial interests and a willingness to help people financially, this is not for you. Your interest is the clients. Don't treat the job like sales; treat it as helping people reach their financial goals at all stages of their life, from life insurance, mortgage, investments, saving for kids, until retirement.
- In terms of value, what can you contribute to our company?
- What is your capacity for bringing clients to the company?
- What is your motivation for choosing Investors Group?
