First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at iFLY Indoor Skydiving.
Marketing Intern
The interviewer asked about my university marketing experience and what I learned in school. They explained the job requirements, expectations, and general daily job scope. I think they were short on marketing interns, so they might have been more lenient. The interviewer checked my availability and when I could start.
- Can you tell me what you learned in your university marketing module?
General Manager
The interview process started out very smooth. I was impressed at first. In short, I was interviewed 8 separate times, including a flight to Chicago for an in-person interview. They told me an offer would be coming the next week and that I was the guy for the role! Would you believe if I told you that after all of that time invested, to this day, I still have not heard back from them? I did the standard follow-ups and check-ins. I knew at one point construction was delayed so I figured they were delayed too. At the end of the day I still never heard from them. The location is now open and operating. I am an adult, I can take rejection. No worries there. To spend so much time and to be told what I was told- they should be ashamed not to have gotten back with me. If they treat candidates this way I cannot imagine how they treat employees. I would be very cautious with this company.
- Questions were pretty standard.
Graphic Designer
It was a pretty standard interview for a Senior Graphic Designer role. I spent two hours meeting with 4 people from the marketing department, which felt like a substantial interview. I was disappointed I didn't get an answer on whether I got the job, and after two follow-up emails, I still haven't heard back after a month. While I understand I likely didn't get the job, the lack of response is rude and unprofessional. My advice to iFLY's hiring team is to at least have the courtesy to respond to candidates who invest two or more hours in your interview process. It's not that difficult to send a follow-up email or call with an answer. Future applicants should apply at their own risk.
- Can you tell me three areas where you can improve?
Shift Supervisor
The hiring manager who contacted me was mistakenly under the impression they were recruiting for a different location. It turns out they weren't even authorized to hire for my specific location. Despite this, they proceeded with the hiring process for me anyway. The process was quite straightforward. They utilize behavioral interviews, so you'll need to provide concrete examples from your past work experience. Think about situations where you resolved a customer issue.
- Can you share an instance where you resolved a customer's problem?
