Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IFF.
Technician
Started with an intro, then a sensory test where I had to write down the smellings of samples, correct names if I could, and do a triangle test. After the test, I had a chat with the manager, and they asked about my skills and instrument experience.
- Can you identify the smells of these samples?
- Do you know the correct names for these samples?
- Please complete this triangle test.
Lab Technician
I talked to two people. They asked me more personal questions, I guess to get a feel for who I am. I don't really get why that matters for a lab job, since I won't be dealing with the public. They did mention that the job is so hands-on, some people have actually gotten carpal tunnel from it.
- Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?
- What would you consider your dream job to be?
- Do you perform better working by yourself or as part of a team?
Lab Technician
We started with a 15 minute phone screen. After that, I had a virtual interview with the lab manager that lasted about 30 minutes. They went over the position, the company, the team, and the products I'd be working with. They also outlined my responsibilities and then we got into some questions. It felt more like a chat with a few questions sprinkled in.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Have you worked with stability testing before?
- Are you familiar with stability testing?
