First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IEEE.
Intern
The interview process went smoothly. I was interviewed by people who I would end up working with in the future and they asked good questions. I didn't get any technical questions.
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
Compliance Specialist
The process moved quickly. They contacted me within days of receiving my resume to set up an interview. It seemed like the hiring manager really sped things up. First, there was a brief introductory chat with the hiring manager, followed by an interview with a group of people.
- Given that we have another candidate with a comparable background, what makes you the better choice?
- Tell me something about yourself that isn't listed on your resume.
- Describe your approach to managing stress.
Social Media and Email Marketing Specialist
It was a three part interview process, and each part was about an hour. The first interview was with two HR people, the second with two marketing/comms folks, and the last one again with two HR people. The people I would work with directly seemed to like me and my work, but the HR women were weirdly annoyed I said I'm a good writer, which is kinda key for marketing. Not shocked this job was up for 6+ months. Think I dodged a bullet.
- What's your reason for leaving your current job?
Marketing Coordinator
I had an in-person interview set up by a recruiter. When I got to the office, I checked in at the front desk and then the manager met me to take me to the interview room. The office was a cubicle setup with high walls, making it hard to see or interact with others unless you were right next to them. The whole interview took about 40 minutes, and they reviewed my resume and asked a lot of questions.
- What makes you interested in working for our company?
- What are your motivations for seeking this particular position?
- What qualifications make you a suitable candidate for this role?
