First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IDI Distributors.
Sales Representative
I was contacted online by a recruiter about a potential phone interview. That conversation went well, then you have to meet with the hiring manager for a face to face. The hiring manager is probably the branch manager.
- They asked about my home life, which is odd and could be considered an illegal question, possibly looking for age. The interviewer needs better training.
- How do you handle customer objections?
Senior Accountant
The interview was very comfortable and conducted virtually. It felt more like a casual conversation than a formal interview. The questions focused on my background, and I had the chance to ask my own questions too.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Branch Manager
It was a series of short interviews, not very substantive. The interviewers didn't seem to know how to ask questions to gauge a candidate's experience or qualifications, appearing to rely on gut feelings. After each interview, they mentioned they'd be in touch if they wanted to proceed. While I understand not notifying candidates who aren't selected, after three interviews, it's expected to receive an update on the application status, even if it's just an email. I was told I was moving to the final round with HR, but after a week of no contact, I emailed the hiring manager for an update. They said they'd follow up with HR and weren't sure about the delay, then I was completely ghosted.
- Can you describe your experience?
Administrative Assistant
I went in for one 30 minute in person interview at the Denver office, which was pretty friendly. They asked a bunch of questions about how I saw the role fitting into my career path. Three days later, I got a call to set up a phone interview. The HR person who was supposed to do the interview emailed me a few minutes after it was supposed to start to cancel, saying they had picked someone else. Super unprofessional. Honestly, I'm kind of glad it didn't work out if that's how they operate.
- What prompted your departure from your previous employment?
- In what ways does this role align with your career aspirations?
