The interview process involved an initial vetting call, followed by several panel-style interviews. After the panel interviews, I completed a work sample and had a reference check. Finally, I had a panel interview with the company's executives.

Behavioral Other

I sent in my application online and then heard back about two months later to set up an interview. The first interview was with the COO, and it was a really positive and open conversation. They told me they wanted to move forward with me. The next day, they asked for a writing sample and more information about my salary expectations since they had already posted the range. I sent that over, and after a week and a half without a response, I followed up. Three business days after that, I got a standard rejection email saying it wasn't about my abilities but they weren't moving forward with my application.

Behavioral

My interview experience with Idealist was pretty bad. It felt like the interviewer was just firing off questions like a robot without any breaks, which was mentally draining. When I asked about the next steps, the HR person seemed unsure and couldn't really explain the rest of the process, only mentioning another call. I'm waiting to hear back, but so far, it's not been a great experience.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I applied online and heard back from Idealist Consulting quickly. I went through two interviews, one about 45 minutes and the second an hour. I was really drawn to the company because they help nonprofits with technology and have a "people-first" culture, plus they're a certified B corp. I expected the interview process to reflect that, but it didn't. I got to the final round where I was supposed to meet the Director I'd be reporting to. But when I showed up, I was told the Director wouldn't be there and I'd actually be speaking with the same person from the first interview, who asked the same questions. This was a big red flag because the whole point was to meet the Director and learn more about the role. They never explained why the Director was absent or suggested rescheduling. After waiting over a week, Idealist Consulting contacted me to say they hired someone else, with no feedback or explanation, which felt like a waste of my time. They didn't live up to their claims and it was unprofessional and unfair to treat a candidate like that without any transparency.
