First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IDB Bank.
Portfolio Manager
The interview process began with a screening call with the recruiter where we talked about my background, current job, and qualifications. Next, I received an assignment, a case study. I was presented with a mock client portfolio and a fact sheet for one of the bank's discretionary strategies. My task was to prepare a presentation with recommendations for better asset allocation for the client and to pitch the managed portfolio. The third stage involved an in-person meeting at the office with two senior private bankers. We revisited my background and previous experience, but this interview was more about assessing team fit in a social context. The final round was with executive leadership, focusing directly on my experience with clients and leading investment and market discussions.
- Could you analyze a portfolio and provide recommendations for asset allocation, security selection, and risk management, taking into account elements such as liquidity needs and time horizon?
- I was asked to analyze a portfolio and make recommendations regarding asset allocation, security selection, and overall risk management while taking into consideration factors like liquidity needs, time horizon, etc.
Underwriter
The hiring process was super smooth. HR was really responsive and everything moved quickly. It was nice that the interviews were virtual, which added some flexibility. Talking with the managers was easy, and the questions they asked were totally reasonable.
- Tell me about your main experience with C&I underwriting, including the deal size and industries you've worked with.
Loan Officer
It was a quick process. I only met with HR and one manager and got hired in about 2 weeks. It didn't seem too hard. Wouldn't recommend working here though.
- Tell me about your experience with loans.
Internship
They asked me about my direct experience from my CV and how I could connect it to the job at the office I applied to. I was also asked why I was interested in this specific bank office. Then, I had the chance to ask them some questions. The interviewers were really nice and friendly, and the conversation was in both English and Spanish.
- Can you tell me about your experience listed on your CV?
- How do you see your experience relating to the work we do here?
- What is your motivation for applying to this particular bank office?
