The hiring manager didn't really know data science and couldn't assess qualifications. It was a client-facing role for J&J, so they brought in three junior data scientists. They asked about LLMs, RAG, Git, and feelings on the math behind LLMs, plus casual inference. They seemed unsure of what they needed, and ended up saying they wanted someone with more R experience, even though R was just mentioned as a possibility in the job description. They were too lazy to give a real reason for rejection. If you're not junior or a recent grad, don't bother applying because they are too junior.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

This is a standard interview process. You'll talk with the internal team and then the stakeholders. What matters most is how you do with the stakeholders because they are the ones you'll be working for. The interview starts with getting to know you and the company. They mostly want to see your past work and check if you're a good fit.

I applied and the recruiter connected me with the team. The interview process had two steps. The team was great, and they clearly loved their work and the group. I got the first offer in under two weeks.
