First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ibericus.
Account Executive
I sent my application in online and then got a call the very next day. A few days later, I went in for an interview at their New York office. I met the founder and CEO. She had to leave for something else pretty quickly, so our chat was kinda short. She did say "this isn’t a bad sign" but I already knew it was. She was mostly pleasant though. The office itself is small but in a cool spot in Koreatown.
- Can you explain why you're a suitable candidate for sales positions?
Sales and Marketing
I was contacted because my resume was a good fit, likely found on ZipRecruiter or a similar site. I spoke with the CEO, who pitched the company and daily tasks. I inquired about compensation and learned it's commission-based, involving extensive fieldwork in NYC selling phone plans. Despite the friendly staff, the role didn't seem like a good fit for most due to high turnover and long hours, including end-of-day debriefs. They pushed for another interview, and I declined, recognizing it wasn't for me. Their persistence in rescheduling suggested desperation for hires.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Sales and Marketing
I had two interviews for this entry-level sales & marketing role. The first was about 30 minutes on day one. The second was a much longer, three-hour "on the job" interview with another sales manager, meant to simulate a typical day. However, it was mostly spent explaining the company structure and how everyone's part of a system to create more branches for Cydcor llc, a B2B marketing and sales broker. I was surprised to learn that Cydcor, not Ibericus, handles negotiations with big clients, acting as a parent company to many other B2B sales businesses. Their answers to my questions were surprisingly vague, which was disappointing for a sales company. Despite being encouraged to ask questions, I sensed increasing hostility when they couldn't or wouldn't answer basic questions, often deflecting by focusing on other managers' wealth, like mentioning a mansion in LA or lavish lifestyles from the parent company. I really tried to be open-minded, but it felt like a pyramid scheme promising 'manager' training, when it's actually door-to-door sales with no benefits and commission-only pay. A manager even said, "at the end of the day, when we sell, all we have to do is repeat a scripted pitch, it is not rocket science."
- How would you deal with rejection?
- Please rank these in order of importance: Team, Money, Growth.
- What qualities do you seek in an employer?
Sales and Marketing
The interview was pretty quick and simple. When you arrive, you're given a handout with general info and some questions like 'What attracted you to this job' and 'What have you learned from previous experience'. Inside the interview room, they'll chat with you and then go over the questions from the form.
