My first interview was with a third-party HR rep. It was a really relaxed chat and super informative. I got a good feel for how the company thinks. I left feeling pretty good about it.

Behavioral Presentation

They were hiring a junior designer for an under-market salary but expected them to function at a director level soon as they expand, which was odd considering they already have a senior designer. They barely asked any questions related to the role, and despite the interviewers being personable, it was disappointing to be led to believe I was a strong candidate, complete an interview project, submit it early, be promised feedback twice, and then just get a rejection from HR. I had doubts about the salary from the start but wanted to discuss it. When they mentioned wanting someone who could function as a director for a junior role, I lost interest in working with them again due to this unusual practice. Even a little more communication at the end would have helped, but I'd be hesitant to accept a job there because their hiring process was so strange.

The interview process was challenging with generic questions. The conversation didn't flow well, making it hard to get into a rhythm. It felt like they weren't interested in getting to know me, but rather in seeing how I'd handle tough questions.

It was an online zoom interview, could also be just a phone call. They asked a bunch of questions to get a feel for the kind of worker I am.
