First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at i9 Sports.
Program Coordinator
Super relaxed, not many actual concrete questions, and the interviewer was super engaged and interested in what I had to say. It ended up lasting 20ish minutes. Just mainly about whether or not I met the requirements.
- How would you help kids in the program?
Referee
It was a quick interview, mainly to see how you interact with kids and if you can make fair calls even with parental interference. The goal is to assess if you can remain calm under pressure and manage your surroundings effectively.
- How do you handle pressure?
Sports Instructor
Had a phone call that was over 40 minutes with the owner of the franchise. We talked about my experience coaching and teaching kids and my background with sports. Then I had an in person interview at a random public place (his local homeowners association clubhouse). They went over everything from the phone interview again and then made me a job offer. The job duties they described during the interview (teaching children, managing teams, interacting with parents) were totally different from the actual duties once hired (basically a referee, and a lot of maintenance and labor).
- What is the purpose of i9 sports?
Referee
I learned about this referee position at a college job fair. After I gave them my resume, they reached out and we set up an interview. It was a really relaxed interview. The interviewer gave me the company's application to complete. Once I was done with that, they asked me about ten questions. Most of them were about working with kids, in groups, or with people who might have been tough to deal with. They often asked me to explain more about something or answer based on my resume and experiences.
- Can you tell me about a time you managed a child who was unwilling to take part?
- Have you ever faced a situation on your sports team where players were confronting each other, and if so, how did you resolve it?
