The interview process moved pretty fast but they made sure to check everything. I had to show a data pipeline that was working and talk about the code and tools I used. The last interview was with a group of people including engineers and business folks.

First, there was a standard HR screen, which went really well. Then, I had a call with the hiring manager, and honestly, it was the worst interview experience I've ever had. I usually treat interviews like a chat, but this time, I ended up in an argument with the hiring manager about a stats question. She told me to answer it a certain way, but then interrupted me constantly while I was explaining it. The actual question was about p-values, and how to explain it to a senior exec with no stats background. I tried to explain it with a simple example and easy terms. But the hiring manager just kept yelling at me to give her the answer while I was mid-example. It's tough to give a simple one-sentence answer for a technical term to someone with zero understanding of it, right? The whole thing felt super unprofessional; I even made a note to myself to avoid working with her in the future, which is a first for me.

The interview process seemed to go by quickly, but it seems like they're running a scrappy operation with no HR! I interviewed back-to-back with two individuals who seemed super interested in my background. While on the second interview, I was given a project for the next time we chat. There was absolutely no guidance with that project but I submitted it later that week. I thought I'd get a quick reply but I got nothing, no steps or response from either HyreCar mates. Stay far away!

I got a call for an interview and then went to their office in downtown LA. It's easy to get to by public transit, but parking is a real challenge.
