Bid Writer
The interview process felt a bit all over the place and not super clear. The job role seemed to change a bit as we went along, making it hard to know how I was being judged. I put a lot of work into the written task, and was told I'd get to talk about it more, but that didn't really happen. So, I'm not sure how my writing skills and understanding of the job were actually assessed. I got asked a lot of the same questions over and over, instead of getting asked about specific skills. In the final on-site panel, there were tech problems, so two of the three people couldn't see me. Because of that, I had to just describe my thoughts instead of them seeing how I reacted. It felt like things were being made up as we went. Also, during that last interview, nobody seemed to be taking notes or using a clear way to score things. It was tough to figure out how my answers were being officially scored and compared, and it felt like decisions might have been more based on gut feelings than on a set of rules. It would have been better if it was more organized and open about how they were checking my technical experience.
- What is your estimated turnaround time for writing a bid?
Copywriter
First there was a screening call, then a call with the Head of Marketing. After that, there was a task and a presentation interview. It was a mix of in-person and video calls. The process took a bit longer than expected between stages. They sent an email to let me know I didn't get the job, which was a bit of a bummer, but the team seemed nice.
- What makes working in a team challenging for you?
Paid Search Supervisor
I got a message from a recruiter and I agreed to chat on the phone to find out more about the job. The recruiter didn't really explain the job or talk about the company, and also didn't seem to remember my background. They were super focused on my current and desired pay. I wouldn't want them representing my company.
- Can you tell me about your responsibilities in your current position?
- What is your current salary?
Designer
Applied via LinkedIn and got an email back from the internal recruiter who really liked my portfolio and wanted to set up an in-person 1:1 interview with their creative director. I went to the Bristol office for the interview, but it wasn't with the creative director. Instead, I met with another creative who hadn't seen my portfolio and knew nothing about me, which was super weird. In the end, the feedback was that they liked my portfolio but it wasn't a good fit for the education sector, making the whole thing a massive waste of time. In the future, I'd make sure everyone in the creative/recruitment team is on the same page because this was a MESS. Also, reading other reviews, I think I dodged a bullet – seems like high staff turnover and they're always advertising the same positions every month, which is concerning.
- Can you tell us about your past experience?
- Can you present your portfolio to us?
- What makes you want to work for this company?
