Store Manager
There are three stages in the interview process for this Hurley|Nike position. The first stage is a phone screening with a Nike recruiter. This is a pretty basic interview that's supposed to last between 15-35 minutes, but mine went a bit over half an hour. The recruiter will focus on your resume, background, and how you might fit with the company. The second stage is a phone interview with a retail manager from Hurley HQ. It's about the same length as the first interview. The manager is again looking for your fit with the job and the company. They'll ask similar questions to the first interview, but they'll be more specific to the job you applied for. Make sure you know the product and the company. This is also a good chance to ask your questions about the job and your potential supervisor's management style. The third stage is a panel interview. The panels can vary, but they should have 3 interviewers. Mine included the VP of Retail, an Operations Manager, and a Store Manager. This interview lasts about 45-60 minutes. The questions start formally and then become more relaxed and conversational. The interviewers might ask fewer questions towards the end, and you might end up asking more.
- Can you tell me about your strongest leadership qualities?
- What makes you interested in Hurley?
- Describe a successful contribution or suggestion you've made at work or during college.
Strategic Planner
I was contacted by phone about an in-person interview for the Strategic Planner role. I was supposed to meet with several VPs. When I got there, I found out some people, including the President, couldn't make it. I was told to dress business casual. While waiting in the lobby, I saw another candidate dressed very casually. The first VP gave me a tour and then we sat on the couch to talk. None of the interviewers sat behind a desk; they all seemed very relaxed. Each chat was about 30 minutes. The HR VP mentioned they focus on company culture fit over experience. After many weeks, I got a generic rejection email. I asked the HR person for feedback but never heard back.

Technical Design Director
I was referred by someone who works here to the hiring manager. I then had a 1:1 with the Hiring Manager and then a group interview with other managers, all in one day. The interviews were pretty relaxed, mostly discussing how the company was structured and its future goals. The people seemed laid back but worked hard. The company culture seems young and focused on fun. I got a call a week later with a job offer. Most of the questions were about how I thought I'd fit into the company.
- Regarding our target customer, what aspects do you appreciate, and what experience do you bring in that area?
- What insights do you have about our company, and how do you envision your role within it?
Sales Associate
I sent in my application online and it took about a week to get a response and then set up the interview. The atmosphere was welcoming and the people were great. The interview itself was brief, focusing on fundamental questions about my personal interests, past work experience, and my motivations for wanting to work for the company. Sadly, after the interview, I was informed that they decided to promote someone internally.
- What makes Hurley stand out to you?
