So basically, after I applied, a recruiter from HR got in touch within a couple of days. The HR interview was super quick, like 10-15 minutes, mainly to get a general sense of who I am.

The interview process had three steps: first, a phone interview with an HR talent acquisition specialist. Then, a virtual interview with two people from the document control department, including a supervisor and someone more senior. Finally, there was an in-person interview at the corporate office.

I applied through their website. It started with 2 phone interviews and a personality test. After that, I had an in-person interview with 4 people, including a technical aptitude test and a short tour. Then, I had a second round of interviews with more engineers. The questions asked during the on-site interviews were pretty much the same as the phone interview. They asked a lot about my leadership experience and how I manage groups, which felt a bit strange for a lower-level position. The whole process took 4 weeks, and they seemed in no rush to hire someone, which is tough when they're looking for that perfect candidate. The interviewers were nice and helpful, and they let me know their decision quickly, but it was a bummer to go through 4 interviews over 4 weeks and not get an offer.

I applied online on 7/19/14 and completed an application including a Predictive Index test. The next week, I got a call from the Talent Acquisition Manager to set up a phone interview. On 7/30/14, I had that phone interview with them. It was pretty engaging, asking about my background and general fit for the company culture, not just my qualifications. The interviewer was really open and easy to talk to about anything regarding Hunter. A few days later, I was invited for an in-person interview with the hiring manager. It went for almost an hour, covering my experience related to the job. It wasn't a generic interview, but more of a deep dive into my skills in product development, social media, and launch strategies. It felt like we were discussing the role as if I had already been hired, outlining daily tasks. In the end, the Talent Acquisition Manager called to let me know they decided to go with an internal candidate from Marketing. I respect that decision, as Hunter values promoting from within. Hunter Industries seems like a great company with a solid team, and I'd love to work there someday.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The Talent Acquisition Manager asked if I wanted details on the product line and the number of SKUs I would be responsible for.
