First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HungerRush.
Staff Software Engineer
Got contacted by an external recruiter for the role. Had an initial 1-hour video call with an SVP. The interview was a general technical overview, focusing on my background and experience. We had a two-way conversation where I picked a technical topic to discuss in depth. I was also asked about my views on AI-assisted coding and some high-level C# and SQL questions. For anyone interviewing, I'd suggest picking a topic on distributed systems and using the STAR method. I chose an AI topic, which might not have gone well, possibly due to the interviewer's familiarity or expectations. It's important to keep the interviewer engaged and ask for feedback after answering.
- Can you explain Clustered Indexes in SQL?
- Discuss Dependency Injection and the Singleton pattern.
- What can you tell me about Async/Await, concurrency, and parallelism in C#?
Product Manager
The interview process was excessively long, involving multiple rounds and a final presentation—only to find out they were seeking something else. They couldn’t determine this in the early interviews and ended up requiring eight sessions. Overall, it felt like a complete waste of time, and the technology appeared as outdated as something from the 90s.
- Behavioral questions were asked, along with a home assignment and a presentation.
Web Developer
The interview process had 2 rounds in total, plus an HR round. Overall, the process was good and the questions were moderate. The basic questions for each topic really helped me. The questions asked were in line with what was mentioned on my CV.
- Can you tell me about your project?
- What were your roles and responsibilities?
Support Specialist
It was a 2 round interview process. First, an HR phone screening, then a manager interview. They asked about my availability for timeshift work and if I had prior experience. They also inquired about my willingness to work weekends and my salary expectations.
- Tell me about an app you like and the reasons for your preference.
- Do you have previous experience with shift work?
- Is weekend work something you can commit to?
