Human Resources Research Organization Interview Questions
& Process

I had a one-hour interview over Microsoft Teams. They asked me behavioral and leadership questions from my past, and also asked me why I'm interested in HumRRO. The interviewers were really nice and helped clarify questions I wasn't sure about.

I had a 45-minute screening interview with 2 managers via Microsoft Teams. Then, they asked me to come to their office in Alexandria, VA for a full-day interview. This included arranging my travel, planning a one-hour job talk to give to the company during lunch, and a one-hour work sample involving data analysis. They said travel costs would be reimbursed after everything was finished. I ended up withdrawing from the interview process because I received a job offer from another company which had a much simpler interview process and seemed to have more enthusiasm about their work and teams.

I had a quick phone chat with the hiring manager first. They asked me some general questions about my resume and what I'm interested in. Then, the hiring manager asked me to send over my references and some writing samples. About two weeks later, I went to their office in Alexandria, VA for interviews. It was like 5-6 different chats with people from around the company. I talked to the VP of Research and Consulting, someone from HR, and a few researchers. They all asked me some questions, mostly about how I'd handle different situations. It felt pretty chill.

Applied through a referral and after 4 weeks, I had an initial video call screening with two hiring managers. They talked about the company and their work, then asked 3-4 behavioral questions. I asked them some questions, and they mentioned they're still interviewing others and I'd hear back next week about moving to the in-person interview/job talk.
