First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Huitt-Zollars.
Marketing Business Development Coordinator
I had a great interview experience with Huitt-Zollars. It started with a phone interview to see if I was a good fit, then I had a really engaging in-person meeting where we talked about creative strategy, collaboration, and opportunities for brand development.
- Can you explain your reasons for leaving your current employer, whom they happen to do contract work for?
- Tell me about your creative strategy.
- How do you approach collaboration?
Interior Designer
It was virtual with VP of Interior Arch first. Then invited to in-person to meet the team I would be working with and reporting to. It was pretty typical interview process. Though the VP specifically said HZ does not ghost candidates, after the 2nd interview, I mentioned I had another offer so I wanted to see where the process was at since I was looking forward to join HZ, I got an email from VP stating they are still in the process of interviewing candidates, then I was ghosted.
- Tell me about yourself.
Architect
The interview experience was really comfortable and chill. It was all virtual. They were mainly curious about me and what I want to do in my career to see if I would fit in. They also asked about the software I'm familiar with and the software they use.
- What are your long-term career goals over the next five years?
- What are your career objectives?
- Can you tell me about the software you currently use?
Project Engineer
Interview was arranged by email by HR. I arrived a bit early and rang the bell at the front desk. Someone said they'd get the interviewer, but they never showed up. When the interviewer finally arrived, they mentioned they hadn't been notified. The interview was supposed to be an hour but only lasted about 25 minutes because it ran into an internal meeting. The interviewer seemed to suggest they weren't planning to expand the team, making me question why I was even brought in. They also told me I wouldn't last a year at the company if I commuted. I was told I'd hear back in a few days and got a rejection email in under 24 hours.
- Can you tell me about your commute?
- What's your impression of the company and the team?
