First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hughes Network Systems.
Network Engineer
So after the initial screen, there was a behavioral round where the interviewer asked me some basic stuff about me, like and dislikes, and also explained the role expectations. Then I had an in-person interview at HUGHES office. This was a mix of technical and behavioral, and it lasted for about 3.5-4 hours with 3 interviewers. They asked me about my resume, my past experiences, gave me a 'tell me about a time' question, asked about basic network communication, a coding question, and then I got to ask them my questions about the company and the position.
- Can you explain your knowledge of the network layer?
Network Engineer
I first met the company at my university's career fair and they called me back for an interview the very next day. It was a short chat about what I'm aiming for, my previous work, and projects. About two weeks later, I had a 30-minute phone interview with a manager. They asked me about my networking projects and some basic networking stuff like TCP/UDP, OSPF, BGP, VPN, and VLAN. After that, I was called in for an onsite interview which consisted of 3 rounds, all technical with simple networking questions, nothing too hard. The last part was an aptitude quiz.
- What are your goals?
- Can you discuss your past experience and projects?
- Do you have knowledge of TCP/UDP, OSPF, BGP, VPN, and VLAN?
