First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hudson River Trading.
Quantitative Researcher
If you're an experienced candidate, I'd suggest not wasting your time with this firm. Their interview priority seems to be gathering information and using your knowledge for their own benefit. The interviewer directly asked me to go through my strategies and was clearly poaching info. They mentioned the interview was exploratory and that the firm didn't get back with any next steps. HRT doesn't sound like a very inspiring firm; it seems like they recycle people who have failed elsewhere. If you want to succeed in this industry, you want to work with the A players, and they certainly don't fit that criteria.
- The questions were purely for collecting information, not intellectual or meaningful discussions.
Quantitative Researcher
The interview process for the Quant Researcher role was onsite and consisted of up to five rounds. The initial two rounds were focused on coding and data analysis. Unfortunately, I didn't advance past these, so I didn't get to the stats, open-ended questions, or HR rounds. The coding challenges were fairly straightforward, primarily involving code comprehension and modification. The data analysis section wasn't overly difficult but did necessitate a good understanding of relevant packages. The interviewers were not very interactive.
- Some coding questions were asked, and there was a prediction task.
Quantitative Researcher
First I did the OA on codesignal, then I had a phone interview. They asked me some questions about Processes and Threads, and also some medium level leetcode problems. It was quite difficult and I didn't pass.
