Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hudl.
Support Specialist
You'll go through three interviews, usually starting with a phone call and then two in-person. Hudl is good at letting you know what to expect. They email you between interviews, except for the last one, where you'll get a call if they want to offer you the job. The first interview has one person, the second has two, and the third has three. The last one is a round-robin, so each person asks a question until the time is up. The questions in later interviews can change based on what they still want to understand about you, so they tailor them.
- What is your motivation for applying to Hudl and specifically to a Support role?
- Can you explain your interest in the Support Specialist position?
Support Specialist
I got to the third and final stage of the interview. Most of the questions that show up on Glassdoor were asked. My first interview was a phone call with someone who currently works as a Support Specialist. The second interview was in person at H.Q. with two Squad Leads. The third interview was also at H.Q. but with a manager and a Squad lead. The interviews were pretty casual and focused on personality first, then work experience. They told me the day after my last interview that they decided to go with other candidates.
- Can you tell me about a time you showed humility?
Support Specialist
The hiring process started with a detailed application, requiring a resume, cover letter, and solutions to several problems. After that, I had a phone interview that went for about 45 minutes. I didn't get to the in-person stage. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of the phone interview because I felt it didn't really let candidates show how they could contribute. They asked the usual quirky startup questions that feel like abstract thinking puzzles.
- Can you tell me about a time you received criticism from a manager?
- Describe a situation where you had to solve a very difficult problem.
- Explain something you're passionate about to someone with no prior knowledge of it.
