First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hudl.
Software Engineer
It was a pretty standard interview experience. First, I had a behaviorial chat with a Senior Software Engineer. A couple days later, I got an email to do a Codility test online, which had two problems that weren't too tough. After that, my recruiter called, saying they liked my Codility solutions and wanted to set up a final interview. This last interview was with an Engineering manager, and it was mostly behaviorial. We went over my Codility solutions and they asked about my thinking and potential edge cases. About a week after that, I got another call from my recruiter with an offer. They were really good at communicating. Most of the interviews focused on my past experience, how I deal with challenges, and just getting to know me. The only really technical parts were the online Codility test and the quick review of my solutions and thought process. They seemed to really value the person behind the technical skills.
- Regarding your past work, how did you handle testing?
- Can you share a time when you had to deal with criticism?
- Walk me through how you think when solving coding challenges.
Software Engineer
The recruiter manager was great and kept me informed about upcoming interviews. After the initial stages, the final step was a group interview with four people. This was the worst interview I've ever had. The interviewers just read their questions like robots and moved on without really listening to my answers. I hope this was just interview training and not the standard process at hudl, because the company itself seemed really interesting.
- Why do you think you are not a good fit for this role?
Software Engineer
I applied through LinkedIn and went through a few steps. First, there was a Recruiter Screening call to see if I'd be a good cultural fit. Then, I had a Codility Test to check my coding skills. After that, I had my First Interview, talking with the QA Lead, Manager, Senior Manager, and Product Manager about cultural fit. Finally, the Final Interview involved a 30-minute review of my Codility test and then 45 minutes discussing cultural fit with the Director of Engineering and Senior Engineering Manager. I was ultimately rejected.
