First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Huckberry.
Video Producer
The first interview went well and I quickly moved to a second interview, feeling positive and like I met their needs. Then, I was given a compensated test project (Huckberry credit) to create a "sample video project brief." After that, two department heads interviewed me back-to-back. Despite previous positive feedback, these interviews felt negative, especially when we discussed creative freedom and success metrics. One of the heads expressed a pessimistic view, saying, "I seem to be the only one around here anymore that thinks story is more important than metrics." A week later, I was told I didn't get the job, and I received no feedback when I asked for it. A year later, the role is open again, this time focusing heavily on AI for productivity and creativity, which feels like a fortunate outcome given the previous interviewers' apparent concerns about future directions.

Growth Marketing Specialist
The interview process was good and smooth until the very end. I had 3 initial rounds where both the team and HR were responsive and easy to talk to. Then, I was asked to do a project and an in-person presentation at their office, which I thought was a positive sign. My presentation went great, but then I didn't hear anything for 3 weeks. I sent multiple follow-up emails that went unanswered, which was really frustrating. When I finally heard back, they told me the role I'd interviewed for (which involved 4 rounds and a project) had been cut and changed into a less senior role with less pay. They interviewed other people for that role, and I was rejected after a 2-month process. They started out great and I got to meet some cool people, but ultimately the experience was really disappointing and frustrating.

SEO Content Writer
Got contacted by a recruiter who handled the whole thing. First call was with the Director of Content. A bit over a week later, the recruiter let me know about the next steps: a paid take-home writing task (got Huckberry credit for it) and then a 30-minute panel interview with three people from the Huckberry team. I got the assignment done in about a week, and the panel interviews happened maybe two weeks after that. Then, about a week after the interviews, the recruiter told me I didn't get the job. All in all, it was a pretty straightforward and smooth process that lasted about 6 weeks.

Analyst
I had a phone call with the hiring manager, and it seemed to go well. They said they'd get back to me in about a week, but I never heard back. Now I see the position isn't posted anymore. I would have appreciated a follow-up letting me know they were moving forward with other candidates. I'm a big fan of Huckberry and what they provide, but this makes me very disappointed in the company and I'm not sure I can keep supporting a company with hiring practices such as this. I also see previous reviews of people being “ghosted”, with response from Huckberry saying they’ve implemented processes to avoid this in the future…those processes seem to have not worked.
