My interview experience with HubSpot was pretty bad, and I'm not sure if it was just one person or if it reflects the company culture. The first interview, which was basically a screening call, started off rough. I was asked about identifying customers at risk of not renewing. I explained my approach, including managing my book of business and looking for signs like decreased engagement and product usage, and I also touched on the importance of customer relationships. However, the interviewer seemed to have a very specific checklist in mind, focusing only on usage, adoption, and renewal dates. When my answer didn't match their expectations, they criticized my approach, telling me to simplify my answers and essentially rephrasing my response. While I disagreed with their feedback about relationships not being key, I understood I might have 'failed' their specific question. The interviewer mentioned the next steps would involve an interview with a manager, a presentation, and a final panel interview if I moved forward. If not, I'd get an email on Monday. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily condescending. I just wish they had been kinder, even if I wasn't the right fit. It would have been better to just say thanks for the time and I'll be in touch. I can't shake the feeling of sadness from this experience, and I hope they treat future candidates with more kindness, especially since interviewers hold a position of power.

There was 1 HR call, followed by 1 Zoom interview with the hiring manager, which included a mock call with a case study. The final round consisted of interviews in 1 day with 3 different team members, each lasting 30 minutes, focusing on competency-based and behavioral questions. The process was pretty straightforward. The recruiter was really helpful, always following up and giving feedback, plus providing lots of resources to prep for each interview. Everyone was super nice, making it feel more like an open conversation than a typical interview, which was a good experience overall.

It was a very rewarding interview experience. I had about 6 rounds of interview where HR was constantly in touch and provided instructions and feedback for each round. They do look for perfect candidate who can fit the perfect team they currently have. Extremely transparent, which put any hesitation or curiosity at ease. Though I didn't get through the final round of interview, the preparation and feedback helped me get another job and helped me realize my strengths and weakness. Kudos to Lorna Mooney and David for the excellent process. Best part was they did treat me well post interview and didn't ghost me.
