The interview process at HubSpot was really structured and professional. First, there was a recruiter screen where they asked about my background, why I'm into sales, and why I specifically want to work at HubSpot. The recruiter was chill and upfront about the pay, the job, and what they expect. Then, I had a role-play and behavioral interview with a sales manager. The role-play was all about cold calling, dealing with objections, and asking good discovery questions. They really focused on how well you ask questions and find pain points, not just on pitching. The behavioral part was all about grit, being coachable, and times you struggled. The last step was a panel interview and another mock call. Everyone I talked to was super supportive and clearly loved the company culture. Getting feedback was fast and easy. Overall, it felt super organized and fair. HubSpot really cares about culture fit, being curious, and having a learning mindset. If you practice cold calls, know their product, and can ask great discovery questions, you'll do great.

Behavioral Presentation

I went through the BDR hiring process in Dublin. I passed the initial recruiter call and a mock call, which the recruiter prepped me well for. This led me to the final stage, which consisted of three 30-minute interviews. Two senior managers conducted interviews that felt fair and focused on the competencies and questions I had prepared for all week. However, the hiring manager for the role I was applying for deviated from the expected format and questions I had prepared for. This caught me off guard, and I was ultimately rejected with the feedback, 'I don't think you're able to hit our daily activity targets.' I tried to explain that I consistently make over 100 cold calls daily and book more than 25 meetings a month, so I was confident I could meet targets. It felt like they were more focused on finding negatives than assessing personality and cultural fit, leaving me feeling frustrated and deflated with no constructive feedback.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

So there were 3 interviews total, but the 3rd interview was actually like 3 mini-interviews with 3 different people. Apparently, my answer to the "greatest weakness" question, where I said I sometimes lack patience, is why I didn't get the job. I found out later, after the interview, that the first person I spoke to in that 3rd interview really didn't like that answer. It's a shame because on the practical exercise interview, which was the second one, the interviewer actually told me my work and flow were the best he'd ever seen!
