SEO Writer
We discussed the job, then I had to create two writing samples on their platform. I think they were going to use these pieces for clients, and I think I was supposed to get paid via paypal but never did. The office environment is relaxed and youthful. SEO writers also have the option to work remotely after 3 months of employment (and probably after a review). However, the pay was too low for the work, so I turned down the offer.
- Tell me about yourself/your background.
- What are your thoughts on this role?
- What are your career goals?
SEO Analyst
The interview process was pretty basic, as expected for an entry-level SEO role. They started with a quick test that was half math, half logic questions; it was fine to skip some, but do your best on the ones you can answer accurately within the time limit. After that, the main part of the interview involved going through about 10 questions, with some conversation mixed in. The goal was mainly to gauge my fundamental understanding of SEO and marketing.
- Can you give me an example of an HTML tag?
Marketing Specialist
This interview has 2 phone calls, each lasting 30 minutes. They ask specific questions about the job and your understanding of the industry. For example, they'll check if you know basic HTML for email marketing using HTML templates, or if you can pick it up quickly. They might ask you to send over past work. It's a conversational interview where you'll also get to know the company.
- How would you code a basic HTML element like a line break or new paragraph?
- Questions will probe both your behavioral and knowledge aspects, tailored to your existing skills and expertise.
SEO Writer
I was brought in and asked if I knew about SEO. They also told me a bit about the company's history. It was mentioned that I would be the first in-house SEO writer, and that this role was being built as we go.
- Have you written for SEO before?
- Did you know about the company's history?
- Do you know about SEO?
