First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hoya.
Sales Manager
It's a 3 to 5 step interview process. You'll have a LinkedIn screening, a phone screening, then a virtual meeting, followed by an in-person meeting, and finally another in-person meeting with the director. It's a long process, but that's how it is with a big corporate company.
- Can you describe your experience in healthcare sales?
Engineer Development
HR phone call to set up the interview time. First interview with the hiring manager where they asked basic questions like why you want this job and why you're leaving your current company. Second interview with the department manager and hiring manager. The department manager asked some deep questions about your current job and a lot about photomask function, defects, and different types of masks. Be prepared for it. Good luck!
- What is your motivation for applying to this position?
- What are your reasons for leaving your current employment?
- Can you elaborate on your current role and responsibilities?
Process Engineer
The interview process starts with a quick HR phone call to chat about your background and what you're looking for. After that, you'll chat with the hiring manager to go over your skills and see if you'd be a good fit. The last step is an online interview with the director to discuss strategy and leadership. HR will keep you updated along the way.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Data Engineer
HR reached out for a basic screening, asking about my background, skills, and expected salary. I was shortlisted for the first interview. This round was quite simple, allowing me to learn about the company and the project. The interviewer seemed unsure about the project's technical direction and the ideal candidate profile. I then moved to the second and final round. This interviewer was experienced and asked a lot about my daily job, background, and skills, even rephrasing my answers accurately. He was knowledgeable and open to hiring someone without direct experience in their technologies. During the interview, he indirectly hinted at an offer by discussing my expected package with HR. The next day, HR called with good news of being selected but bad news about lacking the budget. HR admitted awareness of my package but claimed I wasn't the perfect match and hiring me at my expected rate would create salary gaps with existing employees. The budget for this senior role was only suitable for a fresh graduate or someone with two years of experience, despite looking for someone with 5+ years. This was disappointing for a large Japanese MNC. My advice is to reject lowball offers unless desperate. HR contacted me a week later about a suitable opening with a decent budget, and I received a verbal offer. However, at the very last minute, the company withdrew the offer to promote someone internally. I felt fooled twice by this company.
