First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Howl.
Director of Marketing
Had four interviews in total, the last one was with the CEO and included a 30-word project presentation. It felt thorough but moved pretty quickly. Covered strategic stuff, checking if I'd fit the culture, and a chance to show my actual work.
- What makes you want to collaborate with creators?
Director of Brand Partnerships
Although the communication was clear, there were significant delays between each stage of the interview process. A faster turnaround time would have enhanced the overall experience. The interviewers were professional and courteous. They asked relevant questions that tested my knowledge and skills related to the job.
- Tell me about a past partnership you were involved in.
Engineering Manager
The interview process was pretty organized and the recruiter communicated well. They made sure I understood the role. But, the team is doing this big tech stack rebuild without a super clear reason, feels more like they just want to work on cool stuff. Some engineers I talked to were more into bragging about themselves than seeing what I could do. The principal engineer was kind of checked out and too sure of himself, so it was hard to get anywhere. And the CTO saying they replaced the old one in three days? That was a bit much, not really professional for an interview. It feels like the engineering culture might not support individual ideas and is maybe run by a few loud voices, which could stifle creativity. I'd say I'd cautiously recommend Howl. The interview itself was structured, but I've got some red flags about how they make tech decisions, how some people act, and the general vibe. If they fix that stuff, it could be a better place.
- Can you describe how you'd architect our platform in a brief 10-minute overview?
Head of Creator Partnerships
I had a phone call with HR and then spoke to the revenue lead. At the end of our call he said he’d like for me to move forward to the next round of interviews. Then I received a rejection email from HR which they quickly followed up with a retraction and assurances that I’d hear from them early the following week. I did not hear from them and had to follow up yet again a full week later, at which time I was informed they he rejected me for the role. Very disappointing and disrespectful experience.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
