First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Houston-Galveston Area Council.
Records Specialist
I had a virtual interview with one person. It was of average difficulty and lasted about twenty to thirty minutes. I didn't get an offer in the end. They asked me what questions I had for them at the end.
- What do you consider your greatest strength?
Program Coordinator
The interview process started with some good questions about the role and programs I was familiar with. I really liked the person who interviewed me. But then HR asked for pay stubs for employee verification, which seemed odd. I sent one with my salary blacked out, and they insisted I un-black it. When I explained why I wouldn't, they ghosted me. I had to reach out to the interviewer to find out I was no longer being considered. The interviewer was great, but HR was unprofessional.
- Can you tell me about your experience with specific programs like Adobe Creative Suite and CRM software?
- Have you used programs such as Adobe Creative programs and CRM programs before?
Executive Assistant
The interview process was pretty straightforward. There were no technical questions. They mainly asked about your motivation to join H-GAC and why you believe you are the right fit for the role. The first stage involved meeting with the Executive Director, followed by interviews with two other Directors. If you passed this initial stage, the next step was a one-hour questionnaire, which served as a sort of test.
- What makes you want to work for H-GAC?
- What makes you deserving of this position?
Program Planner
I had an in-person interview with two staff members. They were very nice and asked questions about how my experience would benefit the position. The hiring process took a while, about two months, because of HR changes that happened during my interview time.
- How would you handle a disgruntled stakeholder?
