First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hour Media.
Email Marketing Specialist
I interviewed with Hour Media three times, meeting two managers and the person who used to do the job. They even gave me a tour of the office, which made me think they were really considering me. But in the end, they picked someone else, saying they wanted more experience with email marketing campaigns. That struck me as odd because I have years of experience, and I think a good company should help its employees develop. The whole thing felt like a runaround, ending in disappointment due to the lack of clear communication and follow-through, even though everyone was nice.
- Can you tell me about your experience in this specific role?
Marketing and Events Coordinator
They are not transparent about pay online because it is very low. I have a degree from a top school and relevant experience, yet they offered 45K, which is 25K less than I currently make. You would earn more at McDonald's. I felt insulted that they wasted my time for an interview.
- What challenges do you anticipate in this role?
Social Media Manager
The first interview was super informal and felt really fast. The office was a mess and the interviewer seemed really unprofessional and unprepared. I got called back for a "second interview" which I thought would be 20-30 minutes long. It wasn't an interview at all though. They had me do a bunch of assignments that took over 2 hours. I couldn't finish them because I had to leave for another appointment. I had already given them a lot of writing samples during the first interview and they never mentioned the second "interview" would be so long. It felt really unfair and I think it hurt my chances of getting hired.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Marketing and Events
It was a straightforward process with a single in-person interview. I got an email with an offer within a week and started the internship the week after school ended. It was close to my hometown and ran until the end of August. The internship is flexible in length depending on your summer break. They offer 3-day work weeks and are flexible with helping interns manage their schedules around summer classes.

- What are your aspirations for your career?
