First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hottinger Brüel & Kjær.
Materials Engineer
My interview process started with an online screening interview, which was mostly about introducing myself and answering some questions. Then, I had an on-site technical interview that included a 15-minute presentation and a data analysis task. After that, I got a tour of the company and chatted with a technician and a degree apprentice. The last step was an online HR interview. Before that, I had to do a predictive index assessment, and the HR person just talked about my results and how I would fit the role.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Can you answer some technical questions regarding fatigue?
- What are your thoughts on fracture mechanics?
Sales Engineer
We started with an HR chat, then a conversation with the hiring manager. It was mostly behavioral questions to see if you'd fit in, plus some technical ones to check your knowledge.
- Can you tell me about your past work experience?
Software Engineer
The interview process had 3 rounds in total, beginning with a cognitive PI test. Round 1 was mostly an introduction to the company and you, with some questions on design patterns. Round 2 was an HR round to understand your working patterns and behavioral questions, and it also included two team leads who asked questions based on your skills and scenarios. Round 3 was with department heads, two people, who mostly asked about design patterns, working style, and some behavioral questions like challenges faced in the past, why you want to join hbk, and design patterns.
- Can you describe challenges you've encountered previously?
- What's your approach to learning new technologies?
- What makes you want to join hbk?
Applications Engineer
My interview process was during the pandemic. It started with a recruiter call to talk about the job and see if I was interested. Then there was another phone interview about my technical background. I was asked to prepare a technical presentation about an application HBK uses a lot and present it over Zoom to a panel of 6 people. After that, I had one-on-one interviews with each of the 6 people who saw my presentation on Zoom. The process finished with a call with HR, a talk with the VP of Sales, and then the job offer.
- Can you tell me about your experience with data acquisition and processing?
