Market Manager
I applied 3 times over a span of more than a week. The first time I applied, I was rejected. A month later, I applied again using a different email, and surprisingly got a response saying I'd be a good fit for Market Manager. This made me question their application process. I was asked to do a 2-page written essay on 3 strategic initiatives I'd take as a Market Manager for a specific area. After no reply for a few days, I sent follow-ups. A week later, I got a rejection saying my submission wasn't what they wanted. Knowing the process could be manipulated, I applied a third time with another new email address. Luckily, I got an email saying I'd be a good fit and to complete the written part. I was thrilled to have another shot at this dream job I admire and researched. I rewrote my essay with a broader focus, less academic, which turned out to be right. They seem to want to see if you understand the role and have some ideas for success. I basically copied bullet points from the job description for my 3 strategic initiatives and wrote about them. Two days later, I got an email to set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. I wasn't nervous because I knew the company well and had researched the role and my market area. During the interview, I showcased my product knowledge, recent features, and my admiration for the company. I also highlighted my years of experience in the hotel industry across various companies and my desire to build strong relationships with different brands. He seemed nice and was looking for creative ideas to improve the company. However, a few days later, I got rejected, stating I wasn't a fit. I'm still unsure what they're looking for.

Market Manager
I got referred by someone I know for the Market Manager job. The process was super quick; I had my first phone interview in under a week. After that initial Skype chat, I spoke with the Country Manager (who would've been my boss) and then another Country Manager right after. Then, I had a final in-person interview at the London office, which was 3 hours long with 5 people, including two I'd already spoken to on the phone. Everyone was really nice and friendly, I'd totally apply again!
- How would you negotiate with a hotel to ensure we have availability for our users during peak seasons?
- What approach would you take to guarantee consistent accommodation for users?
- How would you make sure hotels are offering us the best possible rates?
Market Manager
The interview process was pretty disorganized. The first two interviews, the interviewers were either late or completely missed the interview, so they had to be rescheduled. The company took a long time to get back to me to schedule the next rounds, and I decided to opt out of the process because I thought it reflected poorly on the company culture. Also, I heard the pay for this role, which impacts the company's P&L, was pretty low.
- What strategies would you use to motivate a small team you manage?
