The interview process didn't really match the job description at all. There was no feedback provided. The required skills for the interview were much higher than what the $60k salary suggested. It was supposed to be entry level with an entry level pay, but the technical questions were more like senior level.

I had an on-the-spot phone interview, and then they called the next day to set up an in-person one. The interview was in a trailer behind a school, and the office was messy and unprofessional. There was a lot of confusion about the job I applied for between the recruiter and hiring manager. They filled the position I wanted but had others open and couldn't find the job description. People kept coming in and out during the interview. After that, I had to take an assessment about dial-up and floppy disks, which is outdated stuff. Overall, I'm grateful for the chance, but I wouldn't want to work for Hostos.

After an initial networking conversation where I spoke with my potential supervisor (whom I'd known for 10 years), I referred someone for a campus position. He then suggested I might be considered for the role since I was available. I was hired within a few months.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • My supervisor already seemed committed to hiring me, so there were no unexpected questions.
