& Process

The interview process was quite long, mostly involving waiting for their response even though they claimed to need to hire quickly. After I waited for them to get back to me, they mentioned they would send a link for the third interview. While I was waiting days for that link, they then contacted me to say they had decided to go with someone who was further along in their process. It's kind of unusual to slow down for one person and then speed up for another; it doesn't seem fair.

Terrible. You can tell a lot about a company by how they handle their recruitment process... I had a few rounds of interviews and during one of them, the interviewer was not prepared at all. It was on their calendar for about a week. There were moments of silence as they were reviewing my resume. It was a huge waste of time on both my end and theirs. To top it off, they ghost you with no follow up. :)

First, an initial chat with HR. Then, a take-home task where you have to build a booking system. The instructions for this were kinda messy and not very clear. It mentioned using Styled Components but also said Tailwind CSS was an option, which was confusing about how to style things. The requirements didn't really specify what needed to be done, just vague headings. After that, there was a code review by someone who didn't seem very technical. This person marked things as 'Bad' if they weren't in the requirements and 'Good' for stuff that didn't really matter technically. They missed important stuff like architecture, code quality, comments, and documentation because they couldn't really check those things.

So, the whole thing was pretty thorough but actually fun. First, I talked with the QA Manager a couple of times. Then, they gave me this case to do with Cucumber and Cypress, which was tough but I learned a lot. After that, I had a good chat with the Frontend Lead and a FE Engineer. We went over my case and they asked some smart questions about my choices and how I used Cypress and Cucumber. Then, the Engineering Lead wanted to chat, mainly about my tech skills and if I'd fit in. Then, I met two people from the QA team, which felt less like an interview and more like seeing if we'd work well together and what the vibe is like. It took a while, but every part felt like it had a purpose. Everyone was super nice and open, happy to answer my questions, making it feel more like a conversation. So yeah, it was professional but also really warm. Even though it was long, the nice people and good talks made it a great experience. The best part? Got an offer pretty quick after the last chat. All in all, it was great and made me even more stoked about joining.
