First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Horry Telephone.
Customer Service Representative
Many personal questions were asked. They expect you to talk a lot. The interviewer was polite, clear, and objective. They indicated all the benefits of the position so that you have no doubts. They offer meal vouchers, transportation vouchers, dental insurance, and health insurance.
- Tell me about your career path.
Accountant
Applied online, got a call the next day to set up a phone screen. The phone screen was with HR and Director of Accounting. After the phone interview, they started calling all my references and scrutinized them for about 25 minutes. After calling my references, they scheduled me for a face-to-face interview. I met with HR, Director of Accounting, Supervisor, and a coworker. When my interview was over, they gave me an accounting test. The next day, I was contacted by HR and asked for direct lines for HR references. I emailed them back ASAP. 3 months later, they told me they were pursuing other candidates.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
Software Engineer
I applied online and heard back in a few days to do some programming examples. About two weeks later, I had an in-person interview with 6 people: a coworker, manager, two department heads, and HR. We started with typical interview questions, then I had to do whiteboard coding tasks, similar to the take-home ones but under pressure. One was writing a palindrome function. I didn't hear back for about two months after the interview, and then I found out I didn't get the job.
- What do you know about HTC?
Application Support Specialist
The interview involved a hands-on task where I had to fix a router that wasn't working, and it turned out to have firmware problems. It was a pretty basic troubleshooting exercise if you know anything about routers. Setting up a static IP on your computer is basically all you need to know.
- Can you explain how to fix a non-functional router that has firmware issues?
- How would you troubleshoot a router that isn't working?
- What are the steps to set up a static IP address on a computer?
