Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hormel.
Production Supervisor
I first met the recruiter at a Job Fair held at my college. Then, I traveled to the company's Corp Headquarters in Austin, Mn. for the actual job interview. The interview itself felt pretty easygoing, and the interviewers seemed really keen to make a good impression. I kind of wished I could've chatted with some of the regular production supervisors though, to get their real take on working at Hormel. You know, to see if the picture the interviewer painted was the same as the actual day-to-day reality.
- Can you tell me about your previous accomplishments?
- Would you be open to relocating for this position?
- Could you share some details about your personal life, such as your relationship status?
Production
It was quick and simple they just ask about previous job experience, why you would be a good hire, and are you willing to work long hours or fill in last minute. If you can, this is a job you should consider.
- Are you available to work any schedule?
Production Supervisor
It started with a phone interview, then an in person one with 3 people at a local plant. After that, I went to the Hormel Foods headquarters in Austin, MN. This trip included 5 interviews, a lunch, and a plant tour. The interviews were direct questions about my qualifications and a couple behavioral ones. The company made me feel at home and it was truly a pleasant experience. Hormel's human resources department is outstanding. Interview results were always given within 2 business days.
- Describe your leadership approach.
- What makes you a better candidate than others?
