I had an interview with Luke Thomson at Horizon Media for analyst roles. We talked about using tools like Python and SQL for analytics and I said I was good with them. Luke mentioned my experience might be good for more senior roles. He asked me what I look for in a new role, and I said learning, but I should have said more about tools and industry expertise. We also discussed moving to NY, the company's media and analytics setup, and how internal moves work. It was a chill chat, and they said visa sponsorship could be possible for some roles.

The whole process took more than 3 months and included three main steps. First, there was a call with the recruiter. Then, I had to complete an assessment focused on Excel skills. The final interview involved meeting with four different analysts and lasted over two hours, conducted back-to-back.

The whole hiring journey, from the first contact to the final onsite interview, was excellent. My HR contact was really invested in my success in the role and the interview process. They kept in touch to ensure I felt good about each part of the process and even put me in touch with coworkers when they were out of the office. The interviews themselves were great, and all 5 people I spoke with were really engaged and part of the conversations. Unlike some places where interviewers might seem like they don't want to be there, at Horizon, they genuinely wanted to understand me and my work ethic. Overall, the entire process was fantastic, and I'm happy I landed this job.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • There was an Excel test to check for basic Excel knowledge.
