First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HORIBA.
Applications Engineer
This was a good experience. It was a basic first round, so nothing to worry about. It covered things like your experience, your 5-year outlook, introductions, hobbies, and your availability to start.
- Can you tell me about your experience and your 5-year plan?
- What are your hobbies and when can you start working?
Software Engineer
The interview process was handled by several staff members and divided into two rounds. I also visited the company. However, I was dissatisfied because the company didn't consider the time feasibility and asked many detailed, meaningless questions, which felt offensive. I also didn't know what kind of candidate they needed. They just said I wasn't good enough. It was a waste of my time and money.

Product Specialist
I went through 4 interviews with the team manager, the product lead, then the business unit director, and HR. All interviews went well. After that, I heard nothing but emails from HR every 2 weeks saying the process was taking time. They kept changing the job title during the recruitment process and in the HR email subject lines, the goal was to be able to hire at the minimum salary. The goal was to take advantage of my experience and know-how, especially since I knew the Horiba products well without wanting to admit it just because I came from academia. This is not a professional way at all and shows no respect for the stated deadlines for a response.
- Could you discuss your background and what you're looking to do?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Video Producer
Got a call from HR out of the blue for an immediate HR screening, no prep time. They asked about my availability for a hiring manager interview and if I could do an in-person interview in two weeks if I passed. First round with the hiring manager went okay, they wanted me to interview with their manager next. HR called again to schedule this, weird. Second round seemed fine. HR asked again about in-person interview availability before I even had the second round! Still weird, but okay. Waited a few days after the second round to hear about the in-person interview. HR called the day before, didn't check my schedule. Luckily I was free. Had to fill out another application form, which was strange since I already applied. The in-person interview was three interviews back-to-back with different people, including the hiring manager. Got a tour after. After four rounds, I found out a week later I didn't get the job. Never found out about salary or benefits. Very strange process overall.
